Abstract: | Among the medical students in Porto, Portugal, a significantly higher incidence of them were born during the second trimester of the year. The authors mention that students entering Portugese medical schools are among the most successful high school students. In order to interpret this asymmetry of birth-date distribution, the authors recall that seasons are experienced at different stages of early development, either indirectly through maternal behaviour and biology before birth, or directly in the first year of extrauterine life. |
