Title: | Rising incidence of insulin dependent diabetes in children aged under 5 years in the Oxford region: time trend analysis |
Author(s): | Gardner SG, Bingley PJ, et al. |
Reference: | BMJ 1997; 315:713-7 |
Place of Study: | Oxford, UK |
Abstract: | This is a study of 1,037 children with insulin dependent diabetes under age 15 years. It was noticed that there is rapid increase in diabetic children 0-4 years (annual increase of 11%). |
Keyword(s): | diabetes, diabetes type 1 |
Discussion: | This is not a study belonging to the strict framework of primal health research but the results suggest that a dramatic increase of insulin dependent diabetes in very young children is caused by environmental influences during the primal period. Artificial feeding cannot explain such a dramatic increase. Further studies should look at early multiple vaccinations and pre- and perinatal factors. See entry 0114. |
