Abstract:Low plasma apolipoprotein A1 (Apo A1) concentration is an independent predictor of increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The study was undertaken to determine the relation between plasma Apo A1 concentration and birth weight in young children. The subjects were 16 Jamaican (5 girls, 11 boys) with a mean age of 13.6 months and mean gestational age of 8.6 months. The result is that Apo A1 concentration increased with birth weight.
