Place of Study: | Denver, USA |
Abstract: | 201 children diagnosed before the age of fifteen were compared with 181 controls. There is an increased risk of cancer in children breastfed less than 6 months or not breastfed at all. The increased risk is largely due to the increased incidence of lymphoma. |
Keyword(s): | bottle feeding, breastfeeding, cancer in childhood, lymphoma |
Discussion: | These data differ from those of McKinney who found no association between infant feeding and childhood leukaemia or lymphoma. See McKinney P.A., et al, The inter-regional epidemiological childhood cancer; a case control study. Arch Dis child, 1987;62:279-87. See entry 0029. |
